Upload time: November 18, 2021

On July 15, Xiang Jingyao, researcher of the Academy of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and lecturer of the School of Marxism Studies of Renmin University of China, published an article in Teaching and Research. He believes that the capacities of a political party do not come naturally; instead, they are the result of multiple factors, such as the representativeness of its interests, theoretical guidance, practical reasoning, and innovation. The capacities of the Communist Party of China (CPC) combine its soft power and hard power. The former refers to the power in morale, values and culture, and the latter refers to the power in organization, mobilization and implementation. In general, the capabilities of the CPC mainly involve the following four aspects: (1) Politics. The CPC enjoys solid political leadership, which enables centralized and unified leadership and state governance in an orderly way; (2) Theory. The CPC has a strong ability to guide through theory and reach practical consensus between the CPC members and the general public in the way of thinking and perspectives in order to take unified actions; (3) The general public. The CPC has a strong ability to organize the general public and build great cohesion within the Party and the state; (4) Society. The CPC has a strong ability to inspire people and mobilize the broadest social forces to build a socialist country. The CPC dares to make the self-reform, and it never stops building its capacities as a political party. Meanwhile, the capacities of a political party guide and underpin national capacities and serve the overall planning of fully building a modern socialist China.
