On October 14, Ding Kai, Research Fellow at the National Academy of Development and Strategy of Renmin University of China, and Li Peijie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics of Renmin University of China, wrote in Economic Daily that in the face of the new position and new mission to develop from a big country to a strong nation in sports in the new era, we should advance the development of physical education from a big sports perspective. At present, the physical fitness improvement of university and college students is faced with some practical difficulties. The physical fitness and health of students are improving as a whole, but due to the impact of electronic products and other social factors, teenage myopia, obesity and other problems are still serious. We should focus on the systemic and scientific nature of sports and lead the prosperous development of sports from a big sports perspective. We should understand the close links between sports and various sectors such as culture, technology, economy, and society, and integrate sports with ideological and political courses, disciplinary training, practical cultivation, vocational development and other aspects, give full play to the role of multiple channels such as work education, practical education and cultural education so as to achieve the organic integration of various education platforms. It is also necessary to make good use of education evaluation, take physical education as an important indicator in the evaluation of university operation, and incorporate it into the index system for evaluating university teaching and the effects of building "Double First-Class" universities. We should take major sports events as an opportunity to cultivate a strong sports culture atmosphere, lead sports fashion, and encourage university and college students to show their struggle spirit with youthful physique. We should give full play to market forces and advance the reform and practice of physical education at colleges and universities with the help of fast and high-quality development of the sports industry.
