The Academy of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, RUC (hereinafter referred to as the “Academy”) is a comprehensive academic research institution founded in line with the instructions of the central leadership and the requirements of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee on the establishment of the first batch of research institutions for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Its predecessor is the “Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” established on October 25, 2017, which was officially renamed on January 12, 2018 with approval from the CPC Central Committee.

The main tasks of the Academy are as follows: first, actively implement the plans of the CPC Central Committee, and carry out in-depth study, publicity, research and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; second, vigorously mainstream Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into textbooks, classrooms, and minds; third, energetically promote the construction of relevant disciplines and personnel training on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; fourth, proactively carry out research on major theories and practical issues of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics; fifth, constructively propel the international communication and dissemination on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

In terms of organizational structure, the Academy implements the president responsibility system under the leadership of the Board of Directors, with Professor Jin Nuo, Secretary of the Party Committee, RUC, and Professor Liu Wei, RUC President serving as the Chairman, and Professor Qin Xuan serving as the President. At present, the Academy has 88 part-time researchers inside and outside RUC.

Since its foundation, under the strong leadership of the Party Committee, RUC, the Academy has made active explorations in the following areas.

1)  Actively disseminated Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, with nearly 100 lectures organized by researchers;

2)  Gave full play to theoretical advantages and organized researchers to publish 150 articles on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in “People's Daily”“Seeking Truth”“Guangming Daily”“Economic Daily”, and “PLA Daily”;

3)  Leveraged team forces to jointly study and compile the “Research Series on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” (30 volumes), and publish  theoretical works, such as “China’s Secret Code: the System of State Governance” and “China’s Blueprint: The System for National Rejuvenation”;

4)  Actively translated and disseminated Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to the world, with nearly 10 academic monographs about Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era;

5)  Strengthened research on the subject, and completed 9 projects at provincial and ministerial level or above undertaken by the Academy. In addition, the Academy, together with the RUC Office of Research, has set up more than 60 special research projects around “Modernization of National Governance System and Governance Capacity” and “Studying and Implementing the Spirits of General Secretary Xi Jinping's ‘July 1’ Important Speech” etc.;

6)  Gave full play to the role of policy-making consulting, the Academy launched a series of academic activities entitled “Theory - Philosophy - Reasoning: Forum on New Thoughts in the New Era", and transform the research results into advisory reports;

7)  Organized more than 10 researchers to compile thematic publications such as “Theoretical Hot Spot Face to Face” and “Q&A on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” to better push forward the research and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era;

8) Actively organized researchers to chair and participate in the preparation and revision of textbooks. More than 10 researchers presided over and participated in the preparation of the 2021 revised textbook for the “Ideological and Political Theory Course at Universities under the Central Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project”. President Qin Xuan as the chief editor, and 8 researchers including Wang Yi and Tao Wenzhao, complied the Ministry of Education's textbook “Readings on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” (for Universities), which was officially published by the People's Publishing House;

9) Set up nearly 20 courses in collaboration with the School of Marxism Studies and School of Economics, etc., including “An Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” and “Xi Jinping Economic Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”;

10) Organized 6 large-scale international academic forums and held more than 10 thematic high-end forums to disseminate, study and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
