Hong Dayong, male, born in September 1967, is from Dongzhi, Anhui Province. Han nationality, Communist Party member, Doctor of Sociology, Professor, Doctoral supervisor, Institute of Social and Population. The chief expert of the Central Committee's Group on Marxist Theory Research and Construction Engineering Sociology, the first batch of leaders of philosophy and Social Sciences in the National "Ten Thousands of People Program", and the national-level candidates for the talent project of one million people in 2017. Vice President of the Chinese Society, Secretary-General of the Teaching Steering Committee of Sociology Specialty of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Vice President of the Beijing Society of Sociology.

He was admitted to the Department of History, Renmin University of China in 1985, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in History in 1989. From 1989 to 1993, he studied in the Department of Sociology, Renmin University of China. He graduated with a master's degree in Sociology (during 1989-1990, he worked in Beijing Cotton Mill). Since April 1993, he has been a teacher in the Department of Sociology, Renmin University of China (1995-1999). He graduated from Ph.D. postgraduate with a Ph.D. degree in Sociology. In 1996 and 2000, he went to the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Michigan in the United States for further studies. In February-August 2006, he visited the University of Michigan in the United States. He has been an assistant, lecturer, associate professor and professor in the Department of Sociology, Renmin University of China. From 2000 to 2003, he served as vice-director of the Department of Sociology, vice-president of the College of Social and Population and Secretary of the Party branch committee from 2003 to 2006, vice-president of the Graduate School from 2006 to 2007, Dean of educational affairs in September 2007 and Vice-President of Renmin University of China in June 2014.

Mainly engaged in teaching and research in the field of social development and social policy. He has long taught the basic courses of sociology, such as "Introduction to Sociology" and "Applied Sociology" and "Environmental Sociology". He has undertaken the key projects of the National Social Science Foundation, "Environmental Sociology of Ecological Civilization (08ASH001)" and the major projects of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Base of the Ministry of Education.“ More than 30 scientific research topics, such as the study of environmental awareness of urban and rural residents in China (13JJD840006) and the sociological study of building an environment-friendly and resource-saving society (07JD840197), have been published independently or by the first author, Social Change and Environmental Problems (2001), Social Assistance in China in the Transitional Period (2004), and China's Civil Environmental Protection Force. He has published more than 60 papers in important academic journals at home and abroad, such as China Social Sciences and Sociological Research. In 2006 and 2007, the first "Symposium on Environmental Sociology in China" and the first "International Symposium on Environmental Sociology in China" were organized respectively. In 2013, the "Young Salon on Environmental Sociology Research" and "China Environmental Sociology Network" were established.

In 2001, he won the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award and was selected as the "100-person Project" to train social science theoretical talents in the new century in Beijing; in 2003, he won the eighth "Challenge Cup" National University Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition Prize and Prize for Instructor; in 2005, he was selected as the "Supporting Plan for Excellent Talents in the New Century" of the Ministry of Education; and in 2006, he was selected as ” In the talent training program, the monograph "Social Assistance in China in the Transitional Period" won the third prize of the 4th National Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements of Humanities and Social Sciences in Ordinary Colleges and Universities; in 2007, it was awarded a special allowance for experts with outstanding contributions by the State Council; in 2010, it was selected as the second person in charge of the "Sociology Theory Course" national teaching team; in 2012, it was awarded the "Excellent Teacher Award of Baosteel"; Excellent educators in Beijing. As the main accomplishor, he has won many awards for outstanding teaching achievements in Beijing and the national level.
