On October 19, Feng Yujun, Associate Dean of the Academy of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of Renmin University of China, published an article in Legal Daily. He believes that General Secretary Xi Jinping, in his important speech at the central conference on work related to people's congresses, reviewed the "core code" of socialist democracy for the people's congress, that is to uphold that all rights of the state belong to the people, to ensure that it is our people who run the country and that the Party's leadership, the people's position as masters of the country and law-based governance form an indivisible whole, so as to provide an important institutional guarantee for the Chinese people, led by the CPC, to create the miracles of fast economic growth and long-term social stability. Xi clearly put forward the guiding ideology, major principles and main tasks of strengthening and improving the work of the people's congress in the new era, and profoundly answered the "outstanding problems" of developing socialist democratic politics with Chinese characteristics and upholding and improving the people's congress system in the new era. Xi also emphasized the "strategic policy" of strengthening and improving the work of the people's congress in the new era, embarking on the path of socialist political development with Chinese characteristics, and continuously promoting the modernization of China's governance system and capacity. Far-reaching and constructive, the speech set out the direction for upholding and improving the people's congress system and continuously enhancing whole-process people's democracy, and charted the course for even broader prospects of future development.

The people as masters of the country is an essential feature of socialist democracy. The people's congress system can effectively safeguard national independence, sovereignty, security and development interests, and enhance the well-being of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation. Thought with evident advantages, the people's congress system is by no means perfect, but needs to adapt to the development of the times and the requirements of the people. We should unify firm institutional self-confidence with continuous reform and innovation, stick to our fundamental purpose, enhance our advantages, make the people's congress system more perfect and mature, exert stronger governance efficiency, provide institutional guarantee to meet the people's growing needs for a better life, and provide strong institutional support to cope with risks and challenges.
